As a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with extensive experience in orthopedic trauma surgery, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of the management and treatment of common procedures such as fracture fixations and limb amputations.

Fracture Fixations

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Thoroughly assess the patient’s injury and perform diagnostic imaging (X-rays, CT scans) to determine the type and severity of fracture.
  • Closed Reduction and Immobilization: Utilize non-invasive techniques to align and immobilize the fractured bones using casts, splints, or braces.
  • Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF): Perform surgical procedures to realign and stabilize fractured bones using metal implants (plates, screws, rods).
  • External Fixation: Apply devices outside the body to support and align bones that cannot be fixed internally.
  • Post-Operative Care: Monitor patients for complications, provide pain management, and assist in rehabilitation exercises.
