Sample interview questions: Have you ever encountered a telemetry patient who required rapid intervention due to a life-threatening arrhythmia? If so, how did you respond?
Sample answer:
During my tenure as a Telemetry Nurse, I have encountered several telemetry patients who required rapid intervention due to life-threatening arrhythmias. One instance that stands out involved a patient experiencing ventricular tachycardia (VT), a potentially fatal arrhythmia.
Upon observing the patient’s electrocardiogram (ECG), I immediately recognized the VT pattern. With the physician’s guidance, I swiftly initiated synchronized cardioversion. The rapid administration of biphasic shocks successfully terminated the VT, restoring the patient’s normal sinus rhythm.
Throughout the procedure, I maintained constant communication with the physician and the patient’s family, providing updates on the patient’s status. I ensured that the patient received proper monitoring and oxygenation, and coordinated their transfer to the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) for further observation and management.
